Take A Breath

How do you practice gratitude? Why should we make it a priority?

Many years ago I was introduced to writing a daily gratitude list. Write down 10 things I’m grateful for each day, do not repeat an item from day to day, ever. That got a bit tricky after I had labeled the people in my family and life who I was grateful for.

I had to look more deeply about the why.

For example, since I wasn’t able to list my husband a second time, I had to come up with something about him or that he did that I could be grateful for. Things like, I am grateful my husband emptied the dishwasher when I went to bed early, or I am grateful my husband goes to work each day to provide for our family without fuss, or I am grateful my husband remains calm when things get rough.

All of a sudden, I am thinking about him in a different light. The energy in the relationship shifts.

In Reiki we know the energy we generate is felt by others around us. Noticing the positive and writing about it, can enhance the flow of energy and healing, ourselves and our relationships.
