The Sacred Pause – Honoring the In-Between

Somewhere along the way, we absorbed the idea that by now, we should have it figured out.
Our career. Our relationships. Our purpose. Our five-year plan.

There’s a quiet shame that creeps in when we don’t.

When we’re in-between jobs. In-between identities. In-between versions of ourselves.

It can feel like everyone else got the memo — and we missed it.

One of the hardest parts about transition is that it doesn’t look the way we expect it to.

We tend to think of change as a clear, decisive moment. A decision. A breakthrough. A fresh start. But most real transitions don’t feel like that at all. They feel slow, uncertain, and unfinished.

Transition is not the moment when everything becomes clear.
Transition is the space where clarity is still forming.

This in-between space can feel uncomfortable because our minds crave certainty. We are wired to want answers, direction, and resolution. When those things aren’t available, it’s easy to assume something isn’t right.

But often, it is completely right!

You may simply be in the middle of a process that cannot be rushed.

You are changing.

And change, especially deep change, rarely happens in straight lines.

There is often a period of stillness, where very little seems to be happening on the outside. Yet beneath the surface, something essential is reorganizing. Old patterns are loosening. New awareness is forming. Energy is gathering for what comes next.

The pause is not empty space.
It is preparation.

If you find yourself in this kind of space—uncertain, shifting, redefining—you are not behind. You are not late. You are not failing to keep up.

You are in the middle of becoming.

Before you rush to solve anything, fix anything, or define anything… pause here for a moment.

You do not need to have your life mapped out to be exactly where you’re meant to be.

Sometimes the bravest place to stand is in the doorway — not fully who you were, not yet who you’re becoming — and trust that the in-between is not a mistake.

It is the beginning.
