Growth

Text: We grow through curiosity, space and time

Finding sparks when things feel unclear

There is a time in many transitions when inspiration seems to disappear.

The feeling excitement is now distant. Motivation feels quiet. Ideas don’t arrive the way they used to. It’s easy to wonder if something inside you has gone still.

But often, inspiration hasn’t disappeared at all. It’s volume has changed.

In times of certainty, inspiration can feel loud, energizing, propeling us forward. But in transition, inspiration becomes quieter. It whispers instead of shouts. It shows up in small moments rather than big visions.

And because we’re used to looking for big visions, we sometimes miss it.

Where Does Inspiration Come From?

It would be nice if inspiration were dramatic, a breakthrough idea or a sudden realization about what comes next.

Often, inspiration is not what hits me with a ‘wow’ idea. It is more of a noticing.

A sentence in a book that lingers in mymind.
A piece of music that shifts the mood, getting my shoulder moving and toes tapping.
A conversation that leaves has me thinking long after it ends.

These small moments may not seem important, but they are signals. They are sparks reminding me and you that curiosity and aliveness are still present, even when clarity is not.

Inspiration isn’t always direction, sometimes it is a feeling: this matters to me.

And that is enough to begin.

Inspiration Can Feel Distant During Transition

When we’re in a transition we are going through an internal reorganization. Goals taht once felt importatnt may begin to dissovre. Things that used to motivate us no longer fit. We are shifting into the new.

Our minds and hearts are making space.

Space can feel uncomfortable because we’re used to filling it with plans, productivity, or certainty. But space is also where new ideas have room to form.

Something is taking shape. With curiosity, we can give it room to grow.

Try this for one week and notice what happens. Use a piece of paper or notebook to document your feeling, it could be muted, quiet, lessening. I know these don’t sound like feelings… go with me here.

Sparks – one small flicker. Find your flame

  • Noticing one thing each day that makes you pause
  • Writing down one sentence that resonates with you
  • Listening to music without multitasking
  • Taking a slow walk and observing details instead of destinations
  • Allowing yourself to follow curiosity, even briefly

These small practices can gently retrain your attention to notice what feels alive.

Inspiration often begins with attention. Use attention to find the +’s in your day. As we condition ourselves out of hyperfocus, can see the positives.
