Apples = overall better health. Healthline researchers talk about the pectin apples contain. Pectin, a fiber that acts as a prebiotic in your gut microbiome, and a healthy gut is often key to better health.

Dietary fiber cannot be digested so pectin reaches your colon whole, promoting the growth of good bacteria. 70% of your immune system is in your gut. More than two-thirds of your body’s immune cells live in your gut.
